Most girls that I know have made some deal or another with a guy they know (usually a good friend) where if they both get to a certain age and neither are married then they’ll marry each other. How this usually works is that both female/male partners are quite similar and are kind of sure that they won’t easily find someone who will fit the criteria they have for a perfect life-mate.
The good amount of deals to make is 3 because especially in Kuwait, people get married REALLY fast and most deals fall through, some friends you lose touch with, others have girlfriends/boyfriends and whatnot. Anyway, I had two of those deals, one was more realistic than the other. The other is just sort of like a passing agreement not one that was deeply thought out and analyzed to the last minute detail.
My real agreement just fell through. I’m so fucking devastated (ok not really) but I’m upset. My realistic pact-buddy just got engaged. I mean he was MINE. he was MY back up and now he’s not. Now I have to actually start looking for potential marriage partners. I mean I’m no where near the age where I should even remotely worry or even want to get married but herein lies the problem. If I was to look for a guy who would be a back up, it would have to be someone I trust and love and can actually coexist with and right now, none of my current guy friends fall under that category. I love them to death but I wouldn’t share a bathroom with them. On the other hand, if I was to look for a serious relationship, one most likely ending in a ring around my finger then that’s just as tiring! Both need years of work!

I’m really happy for him. I’m glad he found someone that he wants to share the rest of his life with. I just think he should have waited for me to find MY someone too! Bastard.
I never thought that In Kuwait girls got married really fast.Things have change in UAE, girls are more independant and the most are getting married in their late 20’s.

I dont have a back up hence I have someone in life and all I know and want to know that his the one I want to be with for the rest of my life Inshallah! So what happens to me if god forbids that I dont get the love of my life, I dont have a back up hehehe! I dont want to get married to a cousin and I think most of the potential families have tried proposing but Ive ofcourse rejected the proposals that were given to me!
Interesting deal! with friends and my best friend wedding.. making that kinda deals little weird for the other party “still-single-and kicking” yet, for your case someone won and got hocked!
Don’t have a backup dude its too early to have one, even when time come I won’t get myself one! frankly, I don’t want to junks myself with such a deal ;p if I pick him now next week he’ll be engaged ;p

Wallah I don’t know what to tell you… I never had a just-in-case guy… I had a he’s-the-case guy… but he got married and that was that… so now I am just not thinking about it and waiting to see what happens :)

Zainoba: Girls don’t get married that early, I think the average nowadays is around 25-ish but we still have the girls that get married at 18 and try to put us all to shame! HAH. I’m too young either way but I still like to have options! I really do hope that everything ends up well for you, but your situation in itself is reason enough to have a marriage-buddy! I have one of those with my friend but it isn’t AS realistic as the other ones. I mean, for all you know she’ll get all possessive and want her husband all to herself. Also, it is important to mention that this “marriage” can be as fake as you want it to be. You guys can travel and hook up with different people! Spring break baybee! :-p

You know, I try to be positive sometimes, I say to myself “Adorra, don’t sell yourself short, you’ll find someone JUST right” but realistically, I’m a lot to handle and I don’t think most mainstream guys are capable of handling me. And we don’t really have an abundance of awesome guys in Kuwait. Hence the deal! Now, had you had a deal like me, then when the guy became an asshole and got married you could have been like “bitch PLZ” and gotten married too lol.
